Frequently Asked Interior Painting Questions

Can you give me a price quote over the phone?

No. Unfortunately, it can't be done. Each project is unique, and many factors determine the scope of work. To provide the correct quote, we have to evaluate it in person.

How soon can you start?

We work on a first-come, first-serve basis. The better you plan your project and schedule it with us, the better chances you have to get your preferred timeline.

How long will it take to complete my project?

Each project will be completed without interruptions from start to finish. Our detailed quote will indicate tentative start dates and an approximate time the project is expected to take.

What types of paint do you recommend?

We recommend high-quality zero or minimal VOC paints for most interior painting services. High moisture areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and spa areas need to have a higher level of sheen and quality than usual to combat saturation, mildew, and the like. These are not the only recommendations.

Depending on the existing coatings and what you're trying to achieve, each job will significantly determine the correct grade and type of materials used.

How long will my paint job last?

This question is highly subjective. A painting contractor believes that proper maintenance can indefinitely extend a coating's life span. We recommend that you inspect your surfaces once a year and address any problems immediately. Ignoring a small problem can lead to exponential deterioration resulting in increased costs later.

Are you insured?

We carry general liability insurance covering real property (your residence) and worker's insurance covering employee medical expenses and lost wages in a job-related injury.

Why is there such a disparity in cost between the quotes I've received?

Many factors can cause the prices of your painting quotes to differ dramatically. The obvious one is the scope of work can vary. Likewise, the Materials specified may be of different grades. Additional reasons are the quality of the work and the attention to detail that is proposed.

How do you protect the area before painting?

We cover your floors with either paper, canvas, or drop cloths before painting. If we paint over your furniture, it will be protected with plastic.

Is it possible to paint over a darker color?

Yes! With the right paint type and quantity, combined with proper technique, you could lighten your interior. However, it's always easier to paint over a lighter color with a darker one than vice versa.

Do you need to prime the surfaces before painting?

On repaints, it's not necessary to prime unless converting from oil to latex. When repainting latex paint, a light sanding is enough to give the new paint an excellent surface to bond to.

Do you need to sand down surfaces before painting?

We pole sand the surfaces before painting to deliver a smooth finish.

Do you clean up after the paint job?

We will vacuum and wipe down all the areas we worked in before leaving.
